Dr. Hugh Coleman

Dr. Hugh Coleman graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1977. He started practicing in Orillia in June of that same year. With more than 30 years of experience Hugh continues to bring to the practice his commitment of high quality dentistry in a warm friendly relaxed atmosphere. His ever present good humour and enthusiasm contributes to a great work environment and an enjoyable experience for his patients and staff.

Dr. Coleman’s strong beliefs in the importance of continuing education ensure that he and his team participate on a regular basis in many activities and courses that increase their knowledge and team spirit.

An avid sportsman, he both participates and supports, athletic endeavours in the community such as the Orillia Triathlon, mountain biking, and cross country skiing. His musical abilities bring enjoyment to the community through his involvement in the Orillia Wind Ensemble. Dr. Coleman’s wife Ennis continues to be a strong supporter of both Hugh and his team in many aspects of the practice. Hugh and Ennis are very proud of their two adult children Jocelyn and Jeff.

Dr. Calvin Chu

Dr. Chu graduated from the dental program at the University of Toronto in 2001. He did an AEGD residency at the University of Rochester’s Eastman Dental Centre from 2001-2002. His dental career started in the GTA (North York). He also worked in Hamilton and Keswick before coming to Orillia in 2004.

Dr. Chu is committed to helping his patients maintain optimal oral health in a warm and caring manner. He stays up to date by engaging in continuing education courses, dental conventions, and journals.

Calvin enjoys taking part in dragonboat, cycling, running, curling and cross country skiing. He also enjoys competing in triathlon, with the Orillia event being his favourite. He will be competing in Ironman Canada in 2010.

Barb ~ Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist

Barb joined our practice in 1988, and has over 30 years dental experience. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Georgian College, the Dental Hygiene program at Cambrian College and the Restorative Dental Hygiene program at George Brown College. Barb has been teaching since 1994 on a part time basis at Georgian College in the dental programs. She is currently working on her degree in Gerontology at Laurentian University. Her experience and caring attitude have made her a valuable asset to our dental team.

Barb is the proud mother of two teenagers. She loves being active and participating in many sports, including ball hockey, ice hockey, curling, figure skating and running.

Cynthia ~ Level II Dental Assistant

Cynthia has been a part of the Dentistry on West team for 10 years. She is a valued member of our team providing many of our patients with whitening products and bite guard impressions. Cynthia works with both Dr. Coleman and Dr. Chu in a wide range of restorative procedures.

She enjoys spending her free time outdoors gardening, running, and biking. Cynthia loves to travel when and wherever she can.

Yvonne ~ Dental Assistant

Yvonne has been a valued cornerstone member of our team for the past 25 years as Dr. Coleman’s chairside assistant. Yvonne’s quick and witty sense of humour keeps the restorative department and the patients smiling. Along with her regular responsibilities, she co-ordinates all major treatment with the laboratories ensuring the patients’ cases are handled proficiently.

Outside of the office, Yvonne enjoys reading a great novel, fishing, and curling up with her cats.

Jennifer ~ Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist

Jennifer joined Dentistry on West 2 years ago and brings to the team many years of experience in Dental Hygiene. Her primary focus is Restorative Dentistry.

She is passionate about delivering quality treatment and care to our patients. She also enjoys the professional and social interactions with our team.
